Node.js was created by Ryan Dahl in 2009 while he was working at Joyent. Dahl created Node.js to address the limitations of traditional server-side languages like PHP, Ruby, and Python. Node.js was designed to meet these requirements by leveraging JavaScript's event-driven, non-blocking I/O model, which allows it to handle multiple connections simultaneously without blocking the execution of other code.
